Metal Sludge — In a recent social media exchange, former Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer threw some shade at Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx.
This is nothing new for Blotzer as he has put Mötley Crüe in his cross hairs a few times over the years, and this week was more of the same.
It seems Sixx started one of his usual Twitter threads that was simply titled: “#asksixx“
Sixx does these regularly and answers fans questions on his Twitter feed.
Earlier this week a fan named Mitch asked Sixx the following: “What had John 5 brought to the band?“
Sixx answered with: “Being able to depend on a musician is key in a band. He’s a great player and consistent.. We’re all operating on a higher frequency. (Thumbs Up emoji). I’ve know and worked with J5 for over 15 years.”
The excited fan then shared his exchange with Sixx on Facebook, where others chimed in, including the former Ratt drummer.
Blotzer adds: “Did he Nikki use tapes too, when he was playing with John 5, not the Jackson 5 he could never play bass to that stuff but did he use tapes playing with John 5? Did he have giant work boots gloves on his hands and play bass? Nikki is a jag off.”
Blotzer has often been vocal about other bands, his former band-mates, and Mötley Crüe as well.
Back in May of 2023, Blotzer appeared on the This, That & The Other radio show with host Troy Patrick Farrell, and the former Ratt drummer talked openly about Mötley Crüe when the band was mentioned.

In that article Blotzer said: “Ratt’s always crushed Mötley musically. They got more press, movie stars, explicit sex, murders and shit. Always in the magazines.”
Blotzer also took a few swipes at Producer Beau Hill as well saying: “Blow Hill is disliked by everybody in Ratt, everybody in all of the big bands. All of these bands, they couldn’t stand him. He’s a dictator.”
With that, Blotzer released a press release last fall saying he was coming back as Bobby Blotzer’s Rat Attack for the 2024 tour season and we even covered that story here.
Metal Sludge then reported on a secret rehearsal or two, and we named the full band (singer, guitarists and the bassist) who actually rehearsed with Blotzer back in late September or early October, but there hasn’t been a peep since.
