Metal Sludge — In a series of recent audio blogs David Lee Roth has unleashed some clips that have turned heads, and some of them heads are still turning as I type this.
The man known as “Diamond” David Lee Roth recently threw a fastball at Sammy Hagar, and now he has wound up and delivered another.
Whenever Dave delivers an opinion, like only Dave can, it’s anyone’s guess what he might say.
So it’s not shocking that his latest is much of the same, full of the expected and the unexpected Dave isms… only this time it’s a full Family Size bag of chips that most didn’t see coming.
To the amusement of many, Roth has finally (we’ve been waiting for this) unloaded on Eddie Van Halen‘s only offspring… the Golden Child, the Wonder Boy or The Chosen One… also known as Wolfgang Van Halen.
Yeah, that’s right, Mr. Roth has finally thrown Ed‘s kid under the bus… that is, as long as the bus is riding around lifted 30″ off the pavement.
Oh and please make note, if you’re Team Wolfie, ya better buckle up because I am Team Dave over here.
And that I, means me… your favorite singer who went platinum “Zero Times” and much-like Dave, I don’t mince words either.
With that… let us share part of what Roth said earlier this week via his social media platforms.

In a video posted to YouTube titled “This Crazy Kid..” (originally titled “This Fucking Kid” before being changed, presumably in an effort to make it more YouTube-friendly),Roth recalled the alleged incidents, saying in part (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “This fucking kid, he’s complaining the entire tour like I’m not paying enough attention to him on stage. Like Santa Claus coming down the chimney and popping out on Christmas with nobody paying attention. Shalom to the dome, homie. I’m giving him the best. Everything I’ve got in front of twenty, thirty thousand people at a clip, and he’s complaining to everybody around me — the business manager, the security guy, the clothing lady — ‘Dave‘s not paying enough attention to me.’ Cut to New York City — glamorous, glistening, shimmering New York City, and we’re at Jones Beach with twenty thousand of my closest friends. I walk out into the middle of the stage and I’m gonna do ‘Ice Cream Man’, and I’m testifying to the brothers, Eddie [Van Halen] and Al [Alex Van Halen], ‘Man, this is how many times we’ve played New York. This is spectacular.’ And what I don’t know is this kid, this schlemiel kid, has commandeered a couple of monkeys to go in back, behind my back, over to the side of the stage and throw out these two great dames that I invited to be my guests to the show. And these dames are in their forties, okay? Business women. In fact, you aren’t gonna believe this shit. This fucking kid, what he doesn’t know is that these two dames work for the accounting firm that represent him, not me. But as usual, he, just like his uncle and his uncle’s brother, stiffed them for tickets. I know they’re gonna do that, so I got ahead of things and I give them tickets. I put ’em way off to the side. And I’m not talking about MÖTLEY CRÜE groupies here. This is the real deal. And they’re both carrying big satchel purses, right? Like Gucci. Here we go. And he throws them out of the building. He’s teaching me a lesson. What this fucking kid doesn’t know, they’re carrying the paychecks for all 82 people on the road crew. Nobody tells me till I’m parked in the middle of that fuckin bridge… You know fuckin’ Jones Beach, they think I’m gonna freak out. I laughed so hard I spilled my Snapple.”

I will be the first one to say Roth is a bit nuts, and he’s been annoying and then-some for a few decades, at least for me sadly!
Or, maybe it’s that Dave‘s Intelligence quotient is so far north of mine, that I can’t truly comprehend much of what he’s saying…. at least I will admit it.
It’s like when Dennis Miller was an announcer on Monday Night Football... the world was like “huh?”
Anyway…
Back to this… please, make no mistake, in any and every interview I have ever done, regardless whether it was 1988, 2001 or 2023, I have ALWAYS championed David Lee Roth.
In addition to Roth, I have said the same about Vince Neil and Stephen Pearcy, as those guys, are my BIG 3.
They gave me the kick in my shorts to do what I set out to do, to chase that rock singer road… and I have followed through to the best of my abilities for 40 years to the very date (come March 8th of this year / 1984-2024).
Also… let me state, that I have said almost from the start, on Day 1… that this Wolfgang guy is a silver-spoon fed spoiled brat, who was handed everything from birth, right up until last night… and all day today the same.
Nothing was earned… not a F#@king thing… other than his ability to play his instruments… kudos and respect for that… but this is not about skill or ability, but rather the person and their output.

He’s an absolute prick to countless people… the mere mention or request of him playing a Van Halen song has lead him to eviscerate people with anger and hate. #fact
Then he goes on a tirade about how he carved his own path.
Really?
A path that was, and still is paved with gold and the keys to every door in the entire industry… #morefacts
To all of those who have stood up and boasted about his talent and the rest, bitch please.
This guy wouldn’t get a second look if his last name was anything other than what is listed on his driver’s license.
Truth is, there are 12 year old girls on Instagram that can play circles around him and many of our peers as well. #alsofacts
And this is not a dig at his lack of ability to control himself in the kitchen or in the drive-thru either… nope… I have plenty of Fat, or shall we say over-weight friends… and some skinny ones too.

It’s 2024… get a helmet and embrace it… it’s a fact, not an insult.
Bald can be deemed the same, but I care not to be offended… so let’s all move on.
Anyway, this is about the person, the human, the entitled miserable self-loathing (Fat) guy who has lashed out at anyone who doesn’t fit into his selfish and spoiled narrative.
Yeah, Wolfgang took a swipe or two at Metal Sludge too… back a few years ago, when I was doing nothing more than reporting on all of the hype surrounding his debut and subsequent (Van Halen) rumors, gossip, etc…
And no… there was not a single dig, or a dis anywhere in those original articles… just the facts.
With that… what Roth is talking about here (listen below) happened nearly a decade ago.
One can only imagine what happens behind closed doors today, or what is not seen, not heard, or not known by all of the adoring Van Halen fanboys who are still grasping for a connection to the chosen one’s only offspring.
I absolutely love Van Halen, and have all the respect in the world for their history, the players, the music and this includes the Van Hagar years too.
And that includes all of the decades of true hard work, those guys put in to achieve those dreams, write those songs, do those tours, and build that empire, from the ground up… but Eddie‘s kid is a huge (pun intended) Cu#t, and I won’t ever change my stance.
I also know, that I do not stand alone in my view…
I have had countless industry friends, including players with name value express similar disdain for him… but of course, none of them would dare go public with any comment that would hinder their future, or a potential position going forward… all good… to each his own.
I said it before, and stand by it… and what Roth has unloaded here, is just more evidence of exactly that.
